Tidal Breathing

There is a risk with spirometry because it’s a forceful manoeuvre that can often induce coughing while doing the test. (reference 1- highlighted in yellow). The risk of infection transmission in spirometry is increased because of forceful manoeuvre +coughing compared to tidal breathing in the Forced Oscillation technique.
